We interviewed Jolanta from J R Nutrition to find out more about her growing business based at the Exeid Serviced Offices In Prince Of wales Rd.
1. Background and Inspiration
Tell us about your background and how you eventually started your own business.
I hold a Master’s degree in Physical Education, a degree in International Business and a degree in Polish Language. I have 16 years of experience teaching in primary and high schools and I am also a certified personal trainer (PT level 3). I have been into fitness for the last 20 years. Throughout my career, I’ve always had a passion for fitness and education, which eventually led me to start my own business.
What was the motivation and catalyst that made you decide to start your own business?
While finishing my A-levels and applying to university, I always dreamed of owning a fitness club. Although I initially didn’t expect to start a Nutrition Club, my interest in optimal health and nutrition grew over time, leading me to this path.
What first attracted you to the world of nutrition?
I was drawn to a company with a great history, reputable scientists, and well-established laboratories. The effectiveness of their products and the scientific backing they had really resonated with me. I used the products and got such fantastic results for me and my family, I knew I would be able to help many more families with their nutrition too.
2. Customer Focus
What type of customers do you serve?
We serve everyone because nutrition is essential for every person, from children to the elderly.
What products and services do you provide for your customers?
We operate a budget breakfast nutrition club. We provide a free Wellness Evaluation and body scan and then tailor solutions of meal planning, weight tracking, and coaching support. Our club also provides recognition and community support, which many of our members lack in their daily lives.
How does your service help your customers?
Our customers achieve incredible results, both internally and externally. They see significant improvements in their overall health and well-being but also helping them to start to help others too.
3. Business Journey
What were some of the challenges you faced when starting your business, and how did you overcome them?
Patience and consistency were crucial. I needed, and still need to educate people about the benefits of optimal nutrition and encourage them to prioritise health over frequent pharmacy visits. Planting the seed of this mindset takes time and dedication.
Can you share a success story or a moment when you felt particularly proud of your business?
One of my proudest moments was when people began to believe in the club, trust the process, see results, and return for continued support.
4. Advice and Insights
What advice would you give to other people thinking of starting their own business?
Find what you love, ensure there’s a market need for it, and start working on it passionately.
What are the key skills or attributes that have helped you succeed?
Observing and learning from other clubs on how to interact with people and make the business work effectively has been invaluable. It takes time and dedication and still educating never ending.
5. Service Office Benefits
How has being based in a service office in Norwich helped your business grow?
I love the place because I could personalize it to fit my vision. The warm and welcoming service has been crucial for establishing a positive business environment.
What specific features or services of the service office have been most beneficial for you?
The support, advice, and the pleasant atmosphere have been incredibly helpful.
How has the networking and community aspect of the service office influenced your business?
Networking offline and online are critical in business, and the community aspect of the service office has been highly beneficial for building connections and growing my business.
6. Looking Ahead
What are your future plans for your business?
I plan to grow my club to 100 members and eventually open more clubs with my future trainees and junior partners..
How do you see the industry evolving in the next few years, and how are you preparing for those changes?
The nutrition industry is becoming increasingly important and will continue to grow. I am preparing for these changes by staying informed and adapting my services to meet the evolving needs of the market.
